Gracie Barra Sydney

''Organised like a team, fighting like a family''

Marcelo Rezende, Brazilian Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Gracie Barra Sydney has become an integral part of the Sea Eagles first class training program.  Marcelo has been working with the Sea Eagles players to improve defensive and offensive take downs and ground techniques with more effective functional strength, balance, power and endurance. These skills have been drawn from several martial arts and combat disciplines with a large influence from Brazilian Jiujitsu.

Marcelo and his team at Gracie Barra Sydney would like to invite Sea Eagles Members and supporters to train the body, mind and spirit through the highest level of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction as a vehicle for individual development and the strengthening of the family spirit, going beyond the ''winning-losing'' or ''contest'' philosophy.

At Gracie Barra Sydney they strive to help students get the most out of their training. For students with consistency and dedication, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu becomes a life-style and students can readily enjoy all the benefits of the Jiu-Jitsu or the ''Gentle Art''.

Marcelo's History
Marcelo grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1991, at Gracie Barra Gym with Carlos Gracie Junior, who is the son of Carlos Gracie Senior, the original founder of the fighting style now known worldwide as Gracie “Brazilian” Jiu Jitsu. Marcelo began his path to the black belt among the best, as Gracie Barra Gym is home to Brazil''s greatest BJJ fighters and numerous times world champion team. Marcelo went on to win the Pan American Championships and completed his University degree in Business Administration.

Marcelo is also the founder and director of the NSW Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation and coach for many champions in Jiu Jitsu, Submission Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts with International Standard. He has developed new arrest procedures for and with the NSW police.
