How do I post on the Forum?

You must first become an Online Fan, which you can do by clicking on the Join Now button under the login information on the left.

Once you have signed up as an Online Fan you will be sent an email to your registered address. You must click on a link within that email to confirm that your email address is correct. You will not be able to post on the Forum until you have validated your email by clicking on that link.

You will also need to setup your Forum Profile. This can be done by logging in as an Online Fan then by selecting the "Forum Profile Setup" under the Forum drop down at the top of the screen.

Once you have completed these steps you will be able to post.

Rules for posting on the Forum

The Manly Sea Eagles Website Forum has a set of rules that are heavily enforced. These rules are put in place to ensure that everyone can come to the forum without fear of harassment or exposure to foul, abusive or inappropriate language.

The club has devised a set of rules that clearly state what is not appropriate for the Forums. If at any time you fail to abide by these rules then your Online Fan Account may be cancelled or you may be issued with Demerit Points (See FAQ on the Demerit System).

These rules will be policed and heavily enforced.

The club has instigated a ZERO TOLERANCE policy. An infringement will result in permanent banning from the forum.

ZERO TOLERANCE OFFENCES

• Posts, Avatars and Signatures – repeated advertising of URLs or the listing of competing website URLs.
• Aliases – swearing, foul, offensive, overtly sexual or inappropriate posting names including any attempt to hide words using symbols or acronyms
• Avatars – swearing, foul, offensive, overtly sexual, inappropriate, illegal images or images depicting any form of illegal activity.
• Posts - swearing, foul, offensive, overtly sexual or just inappropriate language including any attempt to hide swear words using symbols or acronyms.
• Vilification of a person, company or any other entity (to make vicious and defamatory statements about or to speak rudely with the intention to offend or hurt).
• Any form of sexual, racial or religious harassment whatsoever.
• Fake personal details.
• Any behaviour that is deemed not to be in the best interests of the club.

Other offences include
• Posting in capital letters.
• Posting outside of the General Forum, messages that do not pertain to the Manly Sea Eagles, NRL, Rugby League or other relevant topic.
• Any behaviour that is deemed not to be in the best interests of the club.

The club will not enter into correspondence with anyone regarding the issuing of demerit points or the banning of an individual. Any requests to comment on these matters will be ignored.

The forum is not a facility for individuals to air grievances and request action from the club. These requests will be ignored, promptly deleted and may result in banning

The club will not enter into correspondence with anyone regarding the issuing of demerit points or the banning of an individual. Any requests to comment on these matters will be ignored.

There may be other behaviours that the club deemes to be inappropriate and as a result the club may issue Demerit Points similarly to traffic infringements.

If you receive more than 100 demerit points within a set period (currently 1 month) then your ability to post on the forum will be suspended. Any points issued will expire at a set period of time (currently 1 month).

This expiry length and the number of points that are issued will be judged on an individual basis and may also be issued beyond what is stated in the guidelines below. The club may also choose to ban an Online Fan for any period, if they consider the person is not acting in the best interests of the club.

A general guide to demerit points
45 Points - Posts outside of the General Forum that do not pertain to the Manly Sea Eagles, NRL, Rugby League or other relevant topic.
45 Points - Posting in capital letters.

At any time the club may choose to invoke greater penalties or even banning as they see fit.

You can see if you have accrued any Demerit Points by logging in to your Online Fan Account and then clicking on the Your Details link in the login area.

The club will not enter into correspondence with anyone regarding the issuing of demerit points or the banning of an individual. Any requests to comment on these matters will be ignored.

What is an avatar and how do I get one?

An avatar is a small image that is displayed under the posters name on the left.

There are two ways of setting up an avatar.

Setup your own image:
Create your own 96x96pixles GIF or JPEG (jpg) image and put it up on the web somewhere so you can link to it. If you don't have your own website there are companies that will host your images for free, just search for "free image hosting".

The image should be resized to exactly 96x96pixles and should be 72dpi for the best quality.

Use one of our Avatars
When you setup your Forum Profile there is a link that will popup a page with a range of Avatars we have already created. Simply select one of the avatars in the popup window and it will insert it into your forum profile.

To setup your Avatar
You can setup your avatar using the Members Forum Setup (you must be an Online Fan and be logged in to access this page)

Where are my post counts?

The club has decided not to display post counts as we feel it reduces the quality of posts on the forum.

How do I insert images into my posts?

We do not allow the inserting of images within posts anymore. It was a decision by the club to tidy up the forum and reduce the number of images, fonts and other formatting elements. This will not only keep the forums neat and easy to read it will reduce download times for those with slower connections.

If you have photos of Manly games or in and around the matches with other supporters you can post them using our Fans Photo Gallery. You must be an Online Fan to post there.
