Layne Beachley - Seeking your support

Dear Members and fans

I am writing to you to ask for your help.

You have been very supportive of ‘Aim For The Stars’ and also of me personally and as many of you know I am currently appearing on the Channel 7 hit show ‘Dancing with The Stars’ which is a dancing competition that helps raise money for charities.  I have swapped my surfboard for dancing shoes for the moment and am totally outside of my comfort zone but am 110% committed to it plus it’s for a good cause.  Proceeds from all votes for me are going towards my foundation ‘Aim for the Stars’ which will provide much needed grants for young women of Australia to achieve their dreams and goals in their chosen career, sport or interest.

I am now going into week 5 of the competition and it’s really heating up. Last Sunday night, I found myself in the unenviable position of being in the bottom two for the second time. Fortunately, I made it through to another week but I have realised that it’s not just about the dancing and competitiveness – it’s about popularity and the votes which make a huge difference.

Unfortunately (unlike some of the other competitors) I don’t have a mainstream media outlet to canvass my votes and therefore must rely on my friends, colleagues and supporters to help me stay in the competition by voting and am therefore seeking your support to vote. 

Like in surfing, I am committed to staying in the competition till the end, training 5 hours a day, 6 days a week, but my training and judge’s scores isn’t enough as the votes make a huge different too!
